The collection of arachnids and myriapods of the MNRJ is the most important in Latin America, housing about 2,000 type specimens. The collection of Opiliones is the second most important in the world, with around 40,000 registered specimens.
Geographic Description
The arachnid and myriapod collection of MNRJ includes specimens from all over the world, with focus on Neotropics, but the vast are records from Brazil.
Purpose
To serve as repository for biodiversity in the World, especially Brazil.
